“Christine has an amazing capacity to channel her energy through performance and share her essence with the audience. Her dancing is a perfect blend of alluring charm and sultry sass.” ~ Freyja

Come on a wild journey through a winter wonderland with Les Femmes Mystique and Les Filles Charme as they traverse the twelve days and nights of Asheville Christmas.
Alice has fallen down the rabbit hole and found herself in a world she’s never known, full of hippies and hoopers, foodies and kombucha, all in this place many like to call “Beer City, USA”. She’ll meet dreadlocked dudes drumming, be surprised by all the tattoos and piercings, and witness a call to arms to “keep Asheville weird!”
She’ll also face the biggest decision of her life – when battle lines are drawn, will she side with the locals or the tourists? Fighting for love in the hardest place to date in the world, some of Asheville’s favorite performers will grace the stage to help her find her way back home.
Produced and choreographed by Christine Garvin, this magical holiday journey will definitely make the locals laugh in recognition, and offer insight into the ‘real’ Asheville for those visiting town, all while putting everyone in the holiday spirit. Featuring the dancers of Les Femmes Mystique, Les Filles Charme, and Bhangra dancers, along with guest acts Fox and Beggar Theatre, Asheville Hoops Troupe, and others, it’s a dance-comedy-music-cabaret-circus-arts extravaganza that can’t be missed!
When: Saturday, Dec. 5th, 8pm
Where: The Orange Peel
Tickets: $15 advance, $20 day of (we HIGHLY recommend you get your tickets early). Click here to purchase!

Founder/Choreographer/Creative Director: Lady Christine
Lady Christine is the creator of Les Femmes Mystique and Les Filles Charme. A dancer all her life, she knew she had the Jazzy Showgirl in her at a young age. But she only began to fully develop this form when she took classes with Aruna, former trainer of Cher, while living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Also a Hip-Hop and Bhangra/Bollywood dancer, Christine loves to combine the three forms for a unique Showgirl-experience. She feels like the luckiest girl in the world to have found a group of ladies so creative, inspired, and dedicated to learning this dance form, and developing their own style. She believes everyone can dance and love their bodies fully, they just have to let go of that ridiculous notion of perfection and fully embrace having a good time this go round.
Performer/Set Designer: Phoenix
Newly finding her home in these beautiful mountains, Phoenix is truly a gypsy soul with a need to experience life to its fullest. She may be serving up smiles and satiating appetites in her off time, but on stage is where she’ll leave you hungry and thirsting for more. Delighted to be dancing with Les Femmes Mystique and expressing all that goddess energy that so needs to be expressed, she has recently graced the stages of Club Metropolis, Diane Wortham, and the Black Mountain Ale house. Keep your eyes open and a good, healthy appetite cause this Phoenix has just begun to rise!
Performer/Sales: Ms. Shugga WithThat
With several performances in Asheville and in Black Mountain under her “belt” (garter that is….), Ms. Shugga WithThat is a relative newcomer to the dance stage. She works and “delivers” by day and will work to deliver a performance here you will not soon forget. Proud of her Southern roots – “Yes, darlin’, you want some shugga with that?” With her, you are sure to develop a sweet tooth!
Performer/Costume Designer: Moxie Merlot
Moxie was raised in the magical land of d’Etroit, where Motown and her three sisters taught her the joy of dance. After training for a ballroom, she broke dancehold to explore the floor on her own terms. She is thrilled to be a part of Les Femmes Mystique, and proud to share the stage with these women of Supreme Moxie.
Dancer/Costume Director: Roxy Wilde
Roxy Wilde was raised a nice Jewish girl in a loving Southern family, which explains why she is always craving fried food and likes to be spoiled rotten. Her love for the stage can be best explained by telling you all that while most little girls were trying to copy Britney Spears, Roxy was busy idolizing Bette Midler. A lover of all things dramatic and musical, Roxy’s charmed life has always been filled with performing in one way or another, but when she joined LFC, she truly felt empowered and inspired by the gifts she’s been given. She is eternally grateful to Christine this group of women who allow her to be as silly, seductive, and brave as she can be. Also, for her ever-patient Craigory, who is her biggest & most handsome fan.
Dancer: The Kat’s Meow
Although new to the showgirl world, this performer is no stranger to the stage. She has been trained in ballet, modern, jazz, and musical theatre and is truly enjoying exploring new forms of dance and performance art. When not stuck in a cubicle, she can be found hitting the trails, sampling some local brews, or on the dance floor.
Dancer: Trixie La Belle
Trixie is originally from SC where all the good little girls say, “Yes Mama” and are as sweet as iced tea. Luckily, Trixie has never been a good little girl. She grew up wearing pointe shoes and tutus until she discovered the fascinating allure of LFC. Trixie has thoroughly loved learning to channel her inner burlesque diva. In her spare time, she enjoys dressing up in silly medieval clothes and drinking fancy Belgian beer with her equally fancy and handsome fiance, Carl.
Dancer: Minnie Maples
Blown South by a Canadian polar front, Minnie Maples landed in Asheville 4 years ago. By day, Miss Maples is as sweet as maple syrup and spends her time empowering young women. But don’t let her good Canadian manners fool you, this tiny little snowflake can leave you with some nasty frost bite. Fortunately, if you need to be thawed out, Minnie Maples has learned a thing or two from Lady Christine. With her newly discovered Jazzy Showgirl moves, Minnie will shed those unnecessary layers and leave you feeling hotter than a mug of mulled wine. So when Minnie Maples hits the stage, you better hang on to your Timbits!
Hoopers: Asheville Hoops Troupe
Asheville Hoops provides workshops, playshops, private lessons, kids events, and classes that promote fitness and teach the attendants hoopdance techniques. Asheville Hoop Troupe has costumed performances offering tightly choreographed routines with colorful hoops including LED and fire hoops for various events. Our company also provides custom handmade hoops for sale that can be found at festivals, specialty shops, and toystores.
Sadye Osterloh is an Asheville local where she’s spent the past 10 years practicing, performing and teaching the circus arts to people young and old. She studied and trained at the Circus Center in San Francisco and with Eugene Baranok in Florida. She’s a founding member of the Runaway Circus and the Toy Boat Circus School and has toured in the U.S., Canada and Central America. She currently is an instructor at Dare to Fly Trapeze and Empyrean Arts in N.C. And loves bringing circus and smiles wherever she may be.
With over 8 years of experience, Deb has been on both performing and producing ends of the Burlesque scene. She has been featured on America’s Got Talent, has headlined shows in New York as well as internationally in Toronto and has won awards for her signature chair routine. Deb has taught her own series of classes in Jacksonville, FL, and also taken classes from such renowned performers as Jo Weldon, Dirty Martini and Perle Noire.
DJ/Music: Zach Cooper
After escaping the the savage clutches of his native NYC, Zach Cooper retreated to the warm slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina like so many New Yorkers before him. Cooper has composed original music for St. Michael’s College, The Vermont Contemporary Music Ensemble, The New York Botanical Gardens and The Black Mountain Center for the Arts, among others. Cooper has performed in various capacities with bands King Garbage, (the) Mel Gibson, Mr. Shopping, SNOUT, STENCIL / MAGIC and other ensembles and orchestras.
Los Sombrereors Locos (Caleb Beissert and Matt Kinne)
Caleb Beissert is a poet, translator, musician, and freelance writer from Washington, D.C., living in Asheville, North Carolina. With nearly 20 years’ experience as a drummer/percussionist, Beissert has performed with The Zealots, Gamelan Gunung Biru, Matthew Friedman, The Angry Inch, The Original Blue Healers, Ideal Way, Circadian Rhythm, Warm the Bell, and the Asheville Waits Band: A Tribute to Tom Waits, among others. Beissert hosts the weekly Poetry Open Mic Asheville at Noble Kava and produces the original monthly reading Altamont Poetry Series.
Matt Kinne studied jazz and classical guitar in college while earning his degree in anthropology. He’s been playing the guitar for over twenty years, and has been a guitar instructor for fifteen. An accomplished performer in his own right, Matt plays regularly in several venues in the Asheville area, often in a Rush cover band, and is an amazingly versatile musician, moving seamlessly between folk, jazz, classical, Celtic, and rock and roll.
