For the Love of Performing

One of my favorite things about being a dance teacher is watching my students perform. For the first few years of teaching, I often performed with them, and so I missed out on the joy it brings to see them do their thing on stage. There was also more of a dependence on watching me in case they forgot a move; performing without me means they know the dance better.

I also love that we continue to have women of all shapes and sizes and dance backgrounds put their fears to the side in order to taste that life energy that you get from performing. Everyone deserves to experience that.

Last week, the most recent GoGo class performed to a classic song with a modern twist. Check it out here:

Lucky for us, the event was also full of Asheville’s finest photographers. So along with the GoGo dancers getting some fun pics, my new professional troupe, Liquid Sirens, also got some photos taken. Here are a few favorites:

Now, I’m looking ahead to the next student performance class, which begins July 6th, and runs Thursday nights from 7:30-8:30 until Aug. 24th. This time around, we’ll be doing some Hip Hop Showgirl, which is one of my favorite dance forms to teach.

Stay tuned for lots more performances happening this summer for Liquid Sirens and CGD+T.
